Starr Gymnastics & Fitness:

The Mud Oven:

Create unique pieces of painted pottery! If your party goers are a crafty bunch, this is a great option. The selection is fantastic; make a mug, a plate, or little critter. A helpful staff and calm environment will make sure that your party goes smoothly!

Sportball:

Sportball birthday parties are the perfect way to entertain your child and their friends in high-energy sports and activities. Our  coaches will run your party from start to finish, encouraging and fostering the participation of all children in non-competitive sports and games. Parties are generally 1, 1.5 or 2 hours in length, and conclude with a traditional birthday party celebration. It’s fun for the kids, and easy on moms and dads. Kids will have to catch their breath before they blow out the candles!

Ultra Fun Birthday Party Themes

Cirque du Soleil

General Ideas:

Introduce children to the fun and vibrancy of Cirque du Soleil with face painting and juggling lessons. Many gymnasiums hold birthday parties that allow for kids to cartwheel, somersault, and jump on trampolines, all within the boundaries of a safe and supervised environment.

Games:

  • Learn how to juggle rings & balls
  • Learn how to spin a colourful plate on a stick (see pictured)
  • Circus themed scavenger hunt

Loot Bags:

  • face crayons
  • rub on tattoos
  • circus themed candies
  • juggling ball(s)

Ewww, Gross!

General Ideas:

Go crazy with icky inspired snacks and sweets to entertain and delight a gaggle of young party goers. Gummy worms, crushed oreo cookies and other gooey ingredients will surely captivate children with a raging sweet tooth. Bug shaped candies, fun ice cubes, and cookies decorated to look like weird insects can instantly create that “wow” factor for your party. These Fred Chillipedes Ice Tray is a fun option!

Loot Bag Ideas:

  • Stickers
  • “Gross” textured candy
  • Rub on tattoos
  • Lollipops with real bugs in the hardened syrup.

Games:

  • Inspired by the hit reality show, Survivor, those willing to participate could join in a bug eating contest. There are many “flavoured” bugs available for sale, such as “Sour Cream & Onion Grasshoppers” or “Barbecue Ants”.  Of course, age will always be a factor, so consider everyone’s ability to play when planning birthday party games.
  • Invite a traveling zoo, such as Little Ray’s, where the children will have a chance to touch and take a photo with a snake and/or other similar reptile.

Cupcake Baking Party!

General Ideas:

Although this could potentially be mistaken as a girly theme, games and activities can easily be tailored to the gender of your child. If you’re feeling brave, you can hold a Cupcake party at your home, or you can rent a venue for an afternoon. Children can help measure out the ingredients and stir everything into thick, gooey dough/batter. Then, while you prepare the cupcakes for baking, therefore doing any work near or around the stove, the partygoers can get started on making a smorgasbord of icing, toppings, and candies to decorate their freshly made pastries!

BULK BARN is an extremely cost effective resource. Gather different candy, chocolates, and sprinkles (as well as a generous scoop of icing sugar)! You can easily create a Cupcake Buffet Table.

Note: For any gluten allergies, you can bake a batch of chick pea chocolate cupcakes in advance, so any children with sensitivities can still participate. There are many recipes available on-line. Simply Google the term and several options will pop up!

Topping Ideas:

  • Sprinkles
  • Multi-coloured Icing
  • Crushed cookies (ginger snaps, oreos, Fudgeeos or Maple cookies are all fantastic choices. Of course, be careful of any nut allergies!)
  • M&Ms
  • Skittles
  • Gummybears
  • Licorice
  • Caramel
  • Brittle
  • Crushed English Toffee

If you would prefer to create a more health conscious array of sweets for your child’s guests, check out this fantastic cookbook called Babycakes. Many recipes are vegan and gluten free. They call for coconut oil instead of butter, spelt or oat flour instead of wheat flour, and many other different ingredients, which are easily found at most health food stores.

Loot Bag Ideas:

  • Stickers
  • Candy
  • Homemade cookies
  • Squinkies
  • Gumballs
  • Rub on tattoos
  • Notebooks

Games:

  • Cupcake/Cookie decorating contest (who can make the most colourful? Who can make the most ugly/scary looking cookie?) A great way for all guests to win a prize!
  • Depending on the age of your partygoers, there are a variety of candy/sweets themed board games. Candyland comes to mind!
  • Everyone can watch Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (new or old version).
